Izmir Metropolitan Municipality has received the first positive news from the treatment works initiated on the trees damaged after the fire that broke out in Yamanlar Mountain last week. The teams of the Department of Parks and Gardens had started improvement work on the trees in Sancaklı, Örnekköy and Bayraklı Allurca afforestation areas in the allocation areas of Izmir Metropolitan Municipality. Instead of cutting down 15 thousand trees in a total area of 200 thousand square meters, the Parks and Gardens Department teams, who started treatment works in the light of science and the reference of Izmir Planning Agency (IZPA), observed that the trees started to grow green again after a 3-day fast intensive care process.
The right intervention raised hopes
In Sancaklı Afforestation Area, the teams determined that the vegetation period continued in the trees damaged by the fire and carried out intensive irrigation and maintenance work on the trees. Thanks to timely and correct intervention, it was determined that new leaves grew on the trees in the region instead of the burnt leaves.
